
Leona Louise Lewis was born 3 April 1985. It is an actress as well as a singer and activist born in Britain. Her birthplace was in the London Borough Of Islington she was educated at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis has been able to garner not only national recognition when she took home The X factor's third season in 2006. The singer also signed the PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. A song by Kelly Clarkson"A Moment Like This" was her prize. The song racked up 50,000 digital downloads in less than thirty minutes, and peaked at No. 1 for 4 weeks. Clive Davis's label J Records, signed Lewis to a contract for five albums within the United States. The success continued for Lewis when she debuted her first album Spirit (2007). It has been certified as platinum by the UK and became the fourth most-sold album in the 2000s. Spirit, according to Official Charts Company is the record-breaking debut album of the 21st century by a female singer. The first single, "Bleeding Love", spent seven weeks at number first in UK and was the highest-priced single of 2007. In the US, it was the top-selling single in the year and Lewis was named the best new Artist by Billboard that same year. In 2009 she released her second studio album, Echo, and recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You", for the film Avatar. Lewis also released "Collide," a joint project together with Swedish DJ Avicii. In 2011 , she also released Hurt The Extended Play of her debut EP. Glassheart (2012) is her 3rd album of studio work. The album was inspired by electronic and dubstep music. Lewis began recording music to her first Christmas album on the Glassheart Tour, which took place in mid 2013. The Christmas album, with Love came out in the latter half of 2013. The lead track, One More Sleep, peaked at number 3 within the UK. It resulted in Lewis to be the first British independent female musician to make it to the top five, with eight singles. She also surpasses Olivia Newton John's record of seven.
